Bhattacharya has a PhD in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. His doctoral dissertation explores the political economy of trade and environmental policies, highlighting the role of lobbying in shaping policy decisions. Bhattacharya’s research interest broadly resides in the field of development economics, particularly on the key areas such as the economics of climate change, political economy, firm dynamics, and international trade policy. Prior to his appointment at Ahmedabad University, he served as an Assistant Professor of Economics at Gargi College, University of Delhi, India.
